For the forty-fifth issue of The Sirens Call eZine, we’re looking for works of horror and dark fiction. As an added bonus, if your piece revolves around a scream, all the better; but not required.
What qualifies as a scream? The echo of a screech in the night; the sound of your own mind isolated amongst a crowd; the wheels of a train or car coming to a sudden uncontrolled stop; the howl of a creature in the night; a wail of loss; the chortle of a twisted soul in pure joy. Interesting ideas to contemplate, don’t you think? There are myriad interpretations that qualify as a scream if crafted properly – dealers choice to include one or not!
We’ll be accepting short stories, flash fiction, drabbles, and poetry provided they fit within the horror/dark fiction genre. We welcome reprints as long as you hold the copyright to the piece.
Your piece can be scary, sullen, emotive, freaky, elegant, bizarre, have a dark-humor edge to it, or be flat out creepy as hell!
For issue #42 — The Bitter End — we’re looking for your darkest, most horrifying stories, poetry, photography, and artwork, all focused on death. Let’s see the year out with your best-written work on the subject!
Submissions will be open until November 30th. Check out the submissions page on our website for guidelines!
Re-prints are welcome!
Our bi-monthly eZine has around 35,000 readers! Show them a face of death they’ll remember!
Hey everyone! NEW CALL for our upcoming eZine – Issue #40 – ‘As Summer Leaves and Autumn Falls’ – Stories of disaster influenced by horrific intent.

We are looking for stories, flash fiction and poetry of horrific happenings that take place in the summer months that lead into fall. As long as the piece is primarily horror/dark fiction, we’d love to see it!
Deadline: Aug 10, 2018; readership approx: 35,000

I recently wrote a blog post about a writer’s bucket list, and talked about some things I’d like to achieve as a writer before I pass into the void.
I’ve taken one step further to reaching one of those goals, which is to write poetry.
I’m thrilled that my poem, The Fractal Man was published on Stanzaic Stylings.
I had originally written another piece to submit, but thought it was a bit dark for the content I read at Stanzaic Stylings, and decided to submit it to a more horror-dedicated publication. The Fractal Man is a bit lighter than my usual style and thought it was a better fit. I’m very pleased with the results and overjoyed that this piece is now available for all to enjoy!
It’s an exciting adventure into a new realm of writing that I’ve only just begun to explore, and I look forward to diving into it head first and seeing where it leads!
I’f first like to thank all the contributors for submitting their work for this wonderful issue! I always enjoy reading their stories and poetry, and working with them is always a pleasure!
Now it’s time for a little shameless self-promotion! As a writer, I’m prone to such outbursts of my ego.
I was featured in an interview by Sirens Call Publicationsfor this issue. You can read and download the magazine for FREE. It’s filled with great stories, poetry, art, and of course, a little insight into the mind of a particular horror writer. (That would be me).
